What is Gelato?

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with gelato, it is a frozen dessert similar to ice cream, yet denser in volume with less air, and arguably, among food connoisseurs – more intensely flavored and much creamier. Originated in Italy, this delightful confection is made with many of the same ingredients as most ice creams around the world – recipes include milk (and cream), sugar (and other sweeteners), flavorings (fruits, nuts, essences, etc.) and air among the main ingredients.

At The Gelato Maker, all of our gelato and sorbet flavors are created with the purest natural ingredients – each of our flavors is lovingly created from scratch, and we don’t use a single additive or preservative in any of our desserts!

In addition, we make all of our products with authentic restaurant equipment and machinery imported from Italy to ensure our customers enjoy a genuine taste of Italian-style gelato – each and every time!

Gelato and sorbet is typically lower in fat content than traditional ice cream – typically, ice cream has 14% fat, while gelato has only 3%-8% fat, and sorbet has 0% fat – an added bonus for the calorie-conscious!
